Annual Soap Box Derby
The annual Soap Box Derby was held at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in June 2007. Monaco has been sponsoring 2 cars with The Elkhart Evening Optimist Club for the past 6 years. This year a brand new 3rd car was added to the line up. Ron Duzy (Roadmaster, Elkhart) has been involved with the event for 8 years as a member of the Optimist Club. Zac Wilson, 13 year old son of Nesa Wilson (Production Administration, Wakarusa) placed 3rd in the Masters Division. Quentin Wilson, 15 year old son of Nesa Wilson (Production Administration) placed 7th in the new Monaco car in the Super Stock Division. JP Phipps, 11 year old son of Becky Phipps (Monaco Sales, Wakarusa) did not place but had a great time racing the red Monaco car. The boys had a fantastic time racing down the course, as did all children involved in the exciting event.
High School Senior Scholarships
Each year, Monaco Coach Corporation offers scholarships to local high school seniors. Monaco recognizes the importance of education, and is proud to offer scholarships to deserving students in our surrounding communities. Through the Dollars for Scholars programs among others, Monaco Coach Corporation provided scholarships to the Wa-Nee, Concord, Elkhart Memorial and Fairfield school districts and their deserving students.
Boys & Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Clubs offers a safe place for children to learn and grow. Monaco Miracles of Indiana is happy to contribute to this worthy organization that provides various activities and programs for children between the ages of 6 and 18. The mission of the club is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
4-H Supporter
4-H is the largest out of school youth program in the U.S. , with over 7 million members working and learning in partnership with caring adults. Monaco Coach contributes and 500,000 teen and adult volunteers. 4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, yearly to the Elkhart and St. Joseph County 4-H programs. These excellent organizations help shape the next generation of leaders of our community. In 2004, money was donated to purchase much needed horse stalls for the 4-H fairgrounds. Also, donations from Monaco Miracles help purchased trophies for several different 4-H clubs, including the goat and cat clubs.
Wakarusa Summer Baseball Program
Monaco Coach Corporation supports the Wakarusa Baseball programs annually in several different areas. Money donated by Monaco Miracles of Indiana helped update the ball diamonds, purchase bleachers, a gazebo and equipment. The Wakarusa Summer baseball program offers over 500 local boys and girls a safe and rewarding experience, while teaching life skills such a teamwork and discipline, which the children can use into adulthood.
