Toys For Tots Contribution
Any chairman of a fund-raising committee will tell you
how difficult it is to get financial support for a new project,
but that didn't daunt the corporate giving committee at
Monaco Coach in Indiana in their efforts to hold their first
fundraiser for the Family Christian Development Foundation/Toys
for Tots program. Mindy Brooks and Dee Ann Lesley presented
a check for $4,000 to Dick Deardorf, Toys for Tots Chairman,
just in time for their Jubilee Celebration in December.
“We were overwhelmed with such an outpouring of generosity
from our corporate neighbors,” he said.
From the inception of the corporate giving program, the
focus has been on local community support. A direct-giving
program has been established along with partnerships
within the local community. A mission statement has been
developed to outline the goals and focus of the committee.
Both Oregon and Indiana have adopted similar mission statements
and are committed to making a meaningful and positive impact
on the communities where our employees live and work. Each
month a meeting is held to discuss and review all charitable
solicitations.
Recently, a donation was approved for the purchase of new
aluminum bleachers for the Wakarusa Summer Baseball program.
In addition, Monaco Coach Corporation has made a sizeable
pledge toward the capital campaign for the Elkhart County
Chapter of the American Red Cross. Money raised will be
used to purchase a new facility along with equipment and
furnishings to meet the challenge of an increasing population
in our county. In the coming months, we will be reviewing
the March of Dimes “Walk America” campaign,
and computer needs for the Head Start program connected
with the Family Christian Development Foundation.
We welcome input from our employees involved with charitable
work. Monaco Coach’s employee involvement not only
shares our company’s greatest asset-it’s people-with
the non-profit sector, it also ensures that our donations
reach a diverse array of institutions within our communities.
It takes a certain amount of financial backing to support
properly a project like this, and Kay Toolson has been willing
to do just that.
