Special
Olympics Contribution
While most of us hate to see the summer end and wonder how
it went by so quickly, thousands of boys and girls in the
area look forward to the start of a new school year. Monaco
Miracles supported new teacher recognition receptions in
both the WaNee and Elkhart school systems. Monaco Coach
Corporation logo pens and other items were donated for goodie
bags, which were given to each new teacher.
Nappanee Wood Products will have 43-plus volunteers participating
in the Marshall County Walk for Hospice in October. The
6.5 mile walk will wind its way through the historic district
in downtown Plymouth. Ed Fisher, supervisor at NWP, is participating
in the walk and knows first-hand how important this organization
is to families with terminally ill members, providing not
only health care, but emotional and spiritual support as
well.
Last year Monaco Miracles donated uniforms for a Special
Olympics youth sports program in Elkhart County. Chad Miller
(pictured above), son of Peggy and Bud Miller (Service Center
Elkhart) was so proud of his new uniform he wanted his picture
taken. Peggy and Bud have been very active and supportive
of Special Olympics for many years and Monaco Coach Corporation
was proud to be able to support this great organization.
Good luck to Chad and his teammates this season!
Because of the number of calls received from employees throughout
the company, Human Resources did try to move up the date
of the blood drive to aid in the disaster relief efforts
for New York City. Unfortunately, Red Cross was under-staffed
and not able to support our drive, along with the overwhelming
number of donors at area blood banks. The blood drive remains
October 12 in Indiana. It is important to remember, that
local supplies will be depleted in light of the disaster
in New York and your donation of blood is one way to show
your support during this national tragedy. Monaco Miracles
is presently looking into a number of fundraising projects
with proceeds going to charities active in relief efforts.
